About me
Jodie Murphy has dedicated the last 24 years to public agencies serving children and families in the City of Charlottesville. Her practice and leadership consistently engages families and the professional colleagues with a clear focus on the best interest of children and the community. Jodie received her Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University and Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Virginia. She has worked as a program manager, social worker, clinician and supervisor in Human Services, Juvenile Court, Social Services, Schools and private practice. Jodie is currently focusing her professional energy on partnering and training educators and mental health professionals to support children and families in ways that are inclusive, responsive, and demonstrate empathy. She currently leads the threat assessment process for the Charlottesville City Schools and uses her expertise in mental health and tiered supports and intervention on an everyday basis. Outside work Jodie is learning everyday from life in a multigenerational household with her husband, two teenagers, parents and a completely spoiled Sheepadoodle.
