Sukari A. Brown is an engineer turned private equity investor now pursuing her MBA at UVA Darden School of Business. Sukari was born, raised, and educated in Brooklyn, NY, and after graduating with her degree in Civil Engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, she relocated to Maryland to begin her future as an engineer. Eventually, Sukari pivoted into an Infrastructure and Capital Projects consulting career at Deloitte, where she developed solutions to help several federal clients address some of their infrastructure challenges.
After leading a team for an infrastructure project in Puerto Rico, Sukari pivoted once more into the world of private equity as an Associate on the Growth Strategy Investment team at a firm based in Baltimore, MD. Sukari served as the Manager for the $5M Rural and Underrepresented Business Recovery from Impact of COVID-19 (RUBRIC) Fund at TEDCO, which focused on deploying funding to early-stage tech businesses most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
After starting school full-time in August of 2021, she completed an in-semester internship at SteelSky Ventures, where she supported the firm's efforts to invest in women's health-focused companies. Sukari was a summer Venture MBA Associate on the Global Ventures team at Sands Capital in Arlington, VA, and will be joining Cambridge Associates as an Investment Director focused on Private Investments (Private Equity/Venture Capital) and Co-Investments this summer.
She was recently working with Anacapa Partners on a project to help with talent acquisition strategies for the fund’s portfolio companies. She is a proud Toigo Fellow, Consortium Fellow, and the 2022-2023 President of the Darden Private Equity Club.
