About me
Frankie Szynskie is an animal lover, illustrator and event professional in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has a degree in biological and pre-medical illustration and is continuing her education with the RISD scientific illustration certificate program in her free time. Originally from Nebraska, she and her partner, Ian Brummel moved to Charlottesville in 2018 for his PhD program at UVA.
One month after being in the area and within 48 hours of securing pet-friendly housing, they adopted their black lab mix, Mosi from the Augusta SPCA. In the Fall of 2021 they adopted a deaf dalmatian puppy through green dogs unleashed that had been tagged as a potential therapy dog. Frankie grew up watching her mom run a pet therapy program at a local hospital and has an older sister with special needs. The Green Dogs Unleashed mission of rescuing dogs with special needs and training them to be therapy dogs was a perfect overlap of her interests.
When not working at UVA, she loves doing therapy visits to the heritage inn, JMRL central branch and dorms on grounds with her Green Dogs Unleashed therapy dogs! She also has a passion for pet illustration and can often be found with a pencil in hand sketching a dog or any other number of pets and animals.
