Lama Kalsang Nyima is the resident teacher of Ligmincha Mexico. Lama Kalsang Nyima was born in 1970 in the village of Tad, Dolpo Province, Western Nepal. Dolpo is culturally Tibetan and is home to 14 Bonpo monasteries and many great Bonpo meditation masters. At the age 3, his father decided that he was to be a monk, and at the age of 9 he took novice vows at Samling Monastery, the oldest and most important monastery in Dolpo, where his grandfather was the Lopon or Head Teacher. For 12 years he had intense training in the methods of Sutra and Tantra. Lama Kalsang is a renowned painter of of thankas (Tibetan spiritual depictions of the buddha and other saints) and mandalas (sacred geometric paintings).
