Ellie is passionate about human and animal rights, including ensuring that every voice is heard, every vote counts and that our planet is protected. Five years ago, she and her husband moved to Charlottesville to be near family and have loved it ever since. They have two married daughters, each with two children, all living in Virginia—something they feel very fortunate about.
Born and raised in New York City, Ellie attended college there before moving to Upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region after getting married. She worked in the social service and probation fields before retiring over ten years ago. Since then, she has dedicated much of her time to environmental advocacy through Citizens Climate Lobby, supporting those with Parkinson’s Disease and their partners, volunteering at Twice Is Nice, encouraging voter participation through postcarding, and finding spiritual nourishment at her Unitarian Universalist church. For fun, she enjoys reading, playing cards, and spending time with friends over lunch and movies.
